| Welcome to GrantTutor Page 1 First, we will start with the WHY section of your grant proposal. Why have you decided to write this grant? Why should the funding source give you money? Step 1: Your first step is to describe the demographics of the school, school district, college, or university. What are the community demographics, district or school size, location, ethnicity, and poverty levels? What sets your district or institution apart? Is there anything special about your organization? Include both challenges and successes. Include as many specific details about your demographics as you can. Cite sources of the demographics, as appropriate. Place the information in chart and tables, if that will make it easier to comprehend. Don't tell everything -- focus on the points that are germane to your grant.
