Introduction

What if you woke up one morning to find that there was now a wall dividing your city into two parts?  That is exactly what happened to the people of Berlin on the morning of August 13, 1961. This wall would stand as a symbol of the Cold War until November of 1989. In this museum you will see the history of the Berlin Wall from its origins in Post World War II Germany to reunification of Germany after its fall.
